COLLABORATIVE COMPUTING MARKET |
TeleWRITER-AGS™ has maintained a significant market share in the collaborative computing market, which, broadly defined, is predicted to exceed $4.2 billion in 2005 year. |
PRODUCT SUMMARY |
TeleWRITER |
TeleWRITER provides feature rich collaborative computing software, low price point and ease of interoperability |
That federal, distant learning and corporate conferencing markets have requested.
TeleWRITER-Advanced Graphics System reception |
- ``The reception to the new TeleWRITER-AGS is better than expected,'' stated Carl Ceragno, President of Communications Research and TeleWRITER Corporation. ``We generated incredible interest and received some valuable input for additional upgrades that we can rapidly put in place. |
- "From the purchasing interest we also determined that TeleWRITER Advanced Graphics System is the right package at the right price for use in new Media and Smart Classrooms in K-20 schools and that we might even have some great upwards pricing flexibility as compared to the competition.'' |
VideoWRITER |
- Development was accelerated by requests from clients
- A standalone whiteboarding and screen annotation system directly targeting and competing with $2,000+ systems with a price of only $200 per license for a package that does more than the competition. |
- Will be demonstrated at the ASTD TechKnowledge Exhibition to be held at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 2, 3, 2005 and will at the Collaborative Computing Summit Conference to be held in New York City, New York February 21 and 22, 2005. |
- Jeff Cone, General Manager, TeleWRITER Corporation believes "At this price point ($200 per license) , with the features of VideoWRITER, every presentation and distant learning PC will need a copy. This software could very well become a standard utility as a word processor and spreadsheet are today. |
- "Everyone wants and needs to whiteboard and create media shows on a PC, at a reasonable cost. With the MultiMedia Authoring Tool built into VideoWRITER, which is also included in TeleWRITER, it offers a very simple way to transport presentations and lectures between single or multi-user environments. It’s very exciting!" |
PRODUCT HISTORY & UPDATES |
Evolved over 18 years, TeleWRITER had 60% of the collaboration software system market in the mid 1990's |
In Fall of 2003 Communications research engaged the services of Jeff Cone, Tampa Florida to be the General manager of TeleWRITER Corporation who’s first responsibility was to put together a team of programmers to update the TeleWRITER-AGS software and develop aligned products for the TeleWRITER line of products. |
In winter of 2004, a programming team was hired to begin work on the software redevelopment. The group successfully completed the rebuilding of TeleWRITER-AGS by September, 2004 and commenced work on the VideoWRITER product which will be released the begging of February 2005 in Las Vegas at the TechKnowledge Exposition.
RECENT (POWER USER) BETA SITES |

In addition, TeleWRITER has an aggressive marketing and exposition campaign that began this Fall, 2004 that increases the sales potential exponentially.
TRADE SHOW EXPOSURE |
TeleWriter Corporation is exhibiting at multiple trade shows around the country to kick-off the new product marketing campaign |
CRHI's President will be a featured speaker at the Collaborative Computing Summit in New York with a live link to London, February 22, 2005 |
The Summit will answer the question "Why Collaboration?" and "How do you plan for successful migration to mass adoption of collaborative conferencing?"

TeleWriter-AGS™ APPLICATIONS -- Benefits/Features |
Schools, universities, major corporations, and government agencies have chosen TeleWriter AGS™ as their real-time Distance Education training solution because it works on many levels. |
DISTANCE EDUCATION |
TeleWriter AGS™ was specifically designed as a real-time communications tool. Up to 32 systems can be connected in one data call. |
TeleWriter AGS™ can be used with other technologies. Because TeleWriter AGS™ is T.120 compatible, it can be used in conjunction with satellite broadcasts, video conferencing, and other conferencing technologies. |
The best way to use TeleWriter AGS™ is to ‘Store-and-Forward’ the class material. Images can either be pre-sent, or retrieved off of a web site, CD-ROM, or network drive. TeleWriter AGS™ has other major benefits: Images can also be sent ‘On-the-fly’ with TeleWriter AGS™ ‘Send Screen’, ‘File transfer’, or the Slide Show send slides feature. |
Instructor student controls let the Instructor enable and disable interaction and send quizzes. Students can "raise their hand" to ask questions any time.
Software Sharing and Collaboration is useful for software training and ‘Web Tours’. |
TeleWriter’s ‘Store-and-Forward’ has many major benefits: |
Low stress on your network connection since the images do not need to be transmitted at the time of the class. |
High speed Images are recalled instantly since they are coming off of a local drive. |
There is No COLOR REDUCTION because compression is not applied to the images. |
The student’s images are displayed in the exact same quality as the original images. |
More bandwidth is available for audio and video
DESKTOP CONFERENCING
For Work-At-Home executives, remote offices, and large corporations.
TeleWriter-AGS™ adds powerful tools to an audio-only phone call. While speaking on one phone line, the executive is connected to as many as 32 other users Via the Internet or a Local Area Network. For one-on-one calls, TeleWriter-AGS™ has it’s own audio and video capabilities using only an Internet connection. |
Software Collaboration and Sharing. |
Easy to use yet powerful Whiteboard. Interactive tools such as pens, highlighters, and pointers can be used by all of the systems in the conference. |
Software Sharing and Collaboration lets executives work on the same word processor document, spread sheet, legal brief, etc. |
High Resolution Still frame images can be captured and stored using any TWAIN compatible scanner or digital camera.
Easy to learn with file transfer capabilities. |
Includes file transfer capabilities. Everything on the computer is a file. TeleWriter provides the ability to move files around between systems. |
MANUFACTURING & DESIGN |
Using a digital camera or scanner, an image is first captured and stored in TeleWriter-AGS™. |
Because TeleWriter-AGS™ is TWAIN compatible, almost any scanner or digital camera can be used. |
Designers connect up with each other using TeleWriter-AGS™ and send images of their products. The images are discussed in real-time and suggestions are directly written on the images. The changed images are then saved for future reference. |
Using Software Sharing and Collaboration, graphics programs, CAD programs, and other software tools can be shared. Every site in the conference will view the shared program. |
Only the site that is sharing the software needs the actual program installed on their system. |
Choose ‘Collaborate’ and any site in the conference can work on the shared program. It is as if they were using the mouse of the shared system.
TeleWriter-AGS™ is more effective than e-mail because: |
TeleWriter-AGS™ is the only program needed. E-mail images would need to be retrieved from the 'Net', ‘detached’, and brought into a graphics program. The images would then be ‘marked-up’, re-saved and re-attached to an E-mail. |
TeleWriter-AGS™ reads almost any file type. |
E-mail is not real-time. TeleWriter-AGS™ allows colleagues to discuss, brainstorm, and take action together.
TeleWriter-AGS™ ADDITIONAL FEATURES |
Whiteboard |
Multiple systems can be connected in one conference. |
If you are currently performing audio only conference calls, TeleWriter-AGS™ gives you a way to add several new dimensions to your conference calls. |
Because it is T.120 compatible, you can also use an optional MCU to take advantage of other T.120 server features. |
With "Full Screen View" our whiteboard takes up 100% of your screen area. Floating toolbars can be minimized so the only thing showing is the whiteboard. |
High resolution images can be displayed including .GIF, .TIF, .JPG, .PNG, .PCX, .BMP, and .TGA |
Background images can be annotated (written on) and the annotations can all be undone with the press of one button. The background image will not be erased. |
Tools include a marker, highlighter, pointer, text tool, eraser, and geometrics (rectangle, filled rectangle, circle, filled circle, and lines). Multiple colors and line widths can be selected. |
Images are pre-stored on the participants’ computer. Graphics are not color reduced, not blurry (due to compression), and do not take up valuable bandwidth (Bandwidth is the size and speed of a connection to a network.) |
Images can also be sent between systems with minimal or no compression. The speed that images are sent is determined by your available bandwidth. |
The whiteboard image can be saved with the annotations in the above mentioned file types. |
The image can be zoomed in or out to any size between 25% to 800% of the original image size. This variable zoom feature allows for the optimum image size without the need to scroll around the screen. |
Physicians use the zoom to look closely at X-rays and medical photos for Tele-medicine CME images.
Motion video files can be started and stopped on command. All sites in the conference are synchronized. Because the files are pre-stored, the images are not compressed and streamed. This gives you television quality images. An additional advantage is that your network is not "clobbered" with huge streaming video files. |
While giving a presentation to a live audience , hook your PC up to a projection system and use TeleWriter-AGS™ as a stand alone presentation tool. The same tools that make TeleWriter-AGS™ a powerful conferencing system will make your presentation professional and powerful. |
Software Collaboration and Sharing |
Share software to let others in a conference watch you run another software application. |
Conduct live "Web Tours" of other Internet sites by sharing your browser. |
Collaboration software to allow other users to control your shared application. (Collaborating is optional. If you are concerned with security or the integrity of your data only 'share' the application.)
Audio and Video |
Use an audio bridge, bridging service or your regular telephone for the best possible quality audio. |
H.323 point to point audio and video can be done using the same connection as your software. |
IP based audio and video is dependent on the bandwidth of your connection and the disposition of your network. |
TeleWriter-AGS™ can produce good quality audio and video with as little as 28.8 bandwidth. |
Multipoint H.323 audio and video can be done with the use of a Multimedia MCU. |
Because TeleWriter-AGS™ is H.323 compliant almost any Multimedia MCU can be used.
Slide Show |
Related images can be easily linked together with TeleWriter-AGS™ slide show feature. |
Thumbnail pictures are displayed so you can conveniently arrange the order of the slides and select slides. |
You can easily go out of order with the jump feature. |
Image directories can be synchronized without the involvement of the remote sites. The presenter can control the entire presentation or class. |
Buttons can be added to any image to link images and start multimedia elements.
Instructor Controls and Quizzing
Remote interaction can be disabled during lecture portions. |
Private interaction can be done between instructor site and a selected system without the other systems seeing any annotations. |
Quizzes can be used to test comprehension. |
Questions can be asked discretely with the question button. |
Control can be passed to a new instructor. |
Instructor Override can be used to take control back from an unauthorized system.
Other Features |
Address Book, Fast Save, Push to Talk Microphone, Chat File, Transfer Screen, Capture, Copy / Convert Files, Grid, Send Screen, Delete Files, Host Multipoint Calls, Text Memo, Eraser, Printer Support, TWAIN Compatible (TWAIN is a universal way to use scanners, digital cameras, and capture devices to import images directly into TeleWriter-AGS™ software) |
Communications |
TeleWriter-AGS™ is TCP/IP compatible. TCP/IP is the universal language of networks. TCP/IP networks include LAN's (Local Area Networks) WAN's (Wide Area Networks) and the Internet. |
The Internet allows you to make a local call to your Internet service provider and conduct a data conference internationally, without paying long distance charges. |
Dial up devices can be used for people with modems to directly dial into a TeleWriter-AGS™
TeleWriter-AGS™ APPLICATIONS -- description and background |
Distance Education |
TeleWriter-AGS™ is a pioneer in the field of Distance Education. |
TeleWriter has networks from K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade) all the way up to Post Graduate levels. |
One client the company is proud of has been operating a college level program for homebound students. These extraordinary students are unable to come on campus due to certain disabilities. Students use technology to sit in on classes and do private communications with instructors. CRHI is told that the students in the homebound program have a higher overall grade point average than their on-site classmates.
Corporate TeleTraining / Government |
Throughout TeleWriter's evolution, it has accomplished the achievement of having the worlds largest Audiographic network. |
Numbering over 1,500 sites, one client uses TeleWriter-AGS™ to conduct classes in mechanical repair, human resources orientation and new policy classes. |
Many companies use the TeleWriter-AGS™ system for corporate training. Employers find it an effective way to keep people informed while minimizing expenses. |
TeleWriter-AGS™ systems cost justify themselves in only a few months. Other firms teach software classes using the whiteboard, slide show, and software sharing features. Having computer literate employees is essential in keeping a competitive edge. Because software companies are releasing upgrades on a quarterly basis it is easy to fall behind. Using TeleWriter-AGS™ to teach software classes is an effective and low cost way to refresh and update employees' skills. |
Certain branches in the military and other government agencies are using TeleWriter-AGS™ on a daily basis. TeleWriter Corporation maintains a AGS status to make doing business with us as easy as possible.
CME (Continuing Medical Education) |
Physicians use TeleWriter-AGS™ to conduct "Electronic Rounds" to show medical images and X-rays. On line trainees can learn to interpret the image and diagnose the illness. |
Physicians especially like the fact that TeleWriter-AGS™ can transmit a "loss-less" file. That means all sites are looking at the identical image.
Desktop Conferencing |
Audio and Video are not enough to have a productive remote meeting. The powerful TeleWriter-AGS™ whiteboard is that 'napkin' that engineers love to sketch on. |
By sharing other software applications professionals can work together with an "over the shoulder" view of the shared computer. Share spreadsheets, word processors and even accounting software. Use it over a Local Area Network to bring people in the same building together electronically.
Product Design and Quality Assurance |
In the field of product design and quality assurance TeleWriter-AGS9TM) is actually used as a verb. |
Designers tell their out-of-state counterparts to, "TeleWriter It to Me." Because of the product's TWAIN compatibility and real time capabilities, samples are digitally photographed and transmitted to off site locations. Coworkers discuss potential product flaws and plan new design changes. The newly annotated image is saved on each computer. After the product enhancements are made, designers take another picture of the sample and re-connect with their overseas colleagues. An image captured and sent using the TeleWriter-AGS™ is a higher quality image than those of a more expensive alternative, video conferencing. |
Because images are electronically captured and stored as a high resolution file, destructive compression is not applied and the pictures are not scan converted to be displayed on a lower resolution monitor. |
Previously, companies in the design industry would mail samples back and forth. This would cost thousands of dollars in overnight freight costs and waste time waiting for samples. CRHI has gained the reputation of helping manufacturers get products "Quicker to market."
COMPETITION - TELEWRITER CORPORATION |
The data collaboration industry has met and exceeded projections for growth over the past five years. Frost and Sullivan reported "the recent acquisition of PlaceWare by Microsoft could be exactly what the web conferencing industry needs to reach $1 billion dollars by the end of 2004. With the high visibility and awareness for collaboration that will likely result from Microsoft's increasing focus on the collaborative industry, we feel web conferencing vendors should be excited by this new venture rather than being intimidated." |
This market has become highly competitive and relatively highly priced with respect to product acquisition and other costs for needed computing hardware as well as ongoing costs of operation and maintenance. |
Microsoft themselves have launched a new networked service that provides clients the ability to connect as workgroups for collaborative work sessions. |
TeleWRITER is a low initial cost solution requiring only a high speed interconnection that can out perform with greater features, the Microsoft’s NetMeeting or any server based internet product. |
CRHI faces competition from a number of large companies both public and private with more expensive server based products that function with the new operating systems and use a standard browser as the user interface in collaborative mode. |
CRHI's most significant competitors are Voyant, WebEx, Placeware and NetMeeting.
GROWTH PLAN |
Focus on high functioning, low cost collaborative product suite delivered via broadband |
Expand product awareness and sales, based on being the expected first collaborative computing software system to meet Federal Section 508 Accessible Compliance for people with disabilities |
Market to current TeleWRITER users |
Increase sales and marketing |
Expand product line
