FUTURE OUTLOOK from a special IDC report on SpareBackup™ |
"The small business market is different from enterprise or medium size companies, which have IT staff to implement backup processes to store offsite backup data on servers. Even with this process, still much data on remote devices is not backed up to servers. |
"IDC research shows, that roughly one-quarter of small businesses do not back up their data at all, and fewer than 30% of small firms back up their data remotely. |
"For those that do perform backups, most of them do it locally, by backing up to a central server or by burning CDs and transferring files to Zip or Flash drives, which they often leave in the office or take home. |
"The backup process is manual, and not only takes time, but if the office or the home is destroyed, the user loses the backup. |
"Among home-based businesses, backup to an offsite location is even less likely."
